Ch.3: Hiragana set [na-no]

This is the Hiragana character 'na' - pronounced like when someone says 'nah...' Students of mine have called it a napkin, but I'm at a loss.

This is the character 'ni,' pronounced like the word 'knee.' It looks like the number 2 in Japanese, which is just 2 lines going across horizontally, and that is probably the best way to remember it.

This is one of the 'pretzel Hiraganas' as I like to call them - they look like pretzels. But this particular one is pronounced 'nu' like the word 'new.' What does it look like? You be the judge.

Another pretzel. This one is pronounced 'neh' as in 'never.' It looks a big like the letter N in cursive, so maybe that is one method for remembering it.

This is the character 'no' pronounced just exactly like the word 'no' in English. It looks like one of those 'prohibited' street signs in the United States, like the 'no smoking' sign with a cigarette and a big crossed out circle over top of it in red. This one is pretty easy.
