Ch.2: Hiragana set ta-to
This is the character 'ta' pronounced like the first syllable of the word 'taco.' Does it look like a taco? Hmm...nah. But it looks like a price TAG. Tag is pronounced slightly different, but the image of a tag in your mind may help to recall this one.
This is the character 'chi' - pronounced like 'chee' as in the word 'cheese.' What does it look like? What do you see in this one? A cheetah? A cheetoh? Cheese? Hmm....
This is the character 'tsu.' Since there are few words with this equivalent sound in English, you're probably going to have to borrow a Japanese word for the associated image. A TSUNAMI wave seems to fit right in here.
This is the character 'te,' pronounced like the first part of the word 'ten.' Students of mine have called it a teeburu (table), a test, a temple. I don't see it, do you?
This is the character 'to,' pronounced like the word 'toe.' It looks a bit like a splinter in someone's toe, actually.
